Guerras civiles de Granada, Primera parte, by Ginés Pérez de Hita, Edited by Shasta M. Bryant, Wake Forest University.
The present volume, which contains the full, unabridged text of Part I of the Guerras civiles de Granada, is intended to meet the need for a faithful, yet readable, edition of one of the major works in Spanish Golden Age literature. The text itself is based upon the oldest and most authentic version known, the edition published in Zaragoza in 1595, as reproduced by Paula Blanchard-Demouge in 1913. An introduction, a list of previous editions, explanatory footnotes, a glossary of archaic and uncommon words, and an appendix have been added to enable the work to be more readily appreciated by the reader who may have a limited knowledge of the book's history and the epoch and events upon which it is founded. (Bryant, from the Preface)
